Ancaster Soccer Club
The Ancaster Soccer Club was founded in the mid 1970’s
by the Optimist Club of Ancaster. Initially, the Mount Hamilton
Soccer Club allowed Ancaster kids to play in their league.
In 1982, ASC began its own league play. 10 teams competed that
year. The club was officially incorporated and organized in 1985.
300 kids registered to play House League soccer that year.
The club has grown each year. There were 900 players in 1999.
Ancaster Thunder All Star Teams commenced operations in 1995.
The Ancaster Titans Rep Program was introduced in 2000. The Heritage
Days All Star/Select Tournament commenced in 2000. The tournament
is one of the better tournaments in the province, featuring lunch
for all participants on the Saturday as a unique feature.
Presently, Ancaster Youth Soccer has approximately 2,100 participants,
making it the fourth largest house club in the Hamilton area.
In 2005, there were 123 house league teams, 7 select teams and
10 representative teams. On a per capita basis, Ancaster has one
of the highest soccer participation rates in the Province of Ontario.
Each year the club celebrates soccer in Ancaster with its Soccer
Day House League Play-off Tournament. All Ancaster teams play
soccer that day, the games determine the House League Tournament
Champions, all participants come out to enjoy the day, participate,
receive trophies and have lunch.
As the area of Ancaster grows, so will Ancaster Youth Soccer.
The Club will continue to be a strong contributor to the development
of our kids that helps make Ancaster a vibrant community. |
